THE NORTH
• La Citadelle where you will have a splendid view of all Port-Louis and the harbour.
• The Caudan Waterfront facing the harbour, is a lively part of the capital, providing shopping, restaurants, art, culture, entertainment, and a craft market in a pleasant environment almost surrounded by water.
• Visit the Port-Louis Market with exotic fruits and vegetables
• Pamplemousses Garden~ This garden is composed of an important collection of exotic and endemic plants- giant water lilies, rare palm trees, the “talipo” which is said to flower only once every sixty years before it dies, and many other plants.
• The Sugar Adventure~ Discover the old Beau Plan sugar mill converted into a historical museum. Sample the flavored rums and on site taste barley sugar and “gateaux coco” a Mauritian made sweet.
• Visit the sandy beaches located in the North of the island, marvel at the wonderful view of the island “Coin de Mire” and visit the red roofed chapel at Cap Malheureux one of the most picturesque villages of Mauritius.

THE SOUTH - SOUTH WEST
• Chamarel ~ The 7 Coloured earths of Chamarel, the result of the erosion of the volcanic ash and the neighbouring waterfalls holds a rare beauty.
• The Black River Gorges ~ Enjoy magnificent landscapes, endemic plants and rare bird species in a national park of 6,574 hectares.
• Grand Bassin ~ Resting within the crater of an extinct volcano Ganga Talao is an important pilgrimage site and many Mauritians of the Hindu faith walk there on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri or the great night of Shiva.
• The Mauritius Glass Gallery~ Here you can admire a team of artisans give life to glass by means of traditional techniques using 100% recycled glass.
• Domaine Bois Cheri ~ Your visit at Bois Chéri tea factory and the tea museum will make you discover the taste of the different flavors of tea produced in the factory.
• Vanilla Crocodile Park ~ In the South of the island discover a magical place in a charming natural environment where banana trees, giant bamboos, palm trees and many other trees give shade to giant tortoises, geckos, macaques, and crocodiles. Visit also its insectariums of 20,000 species.
• Gris Gris, Baie du Cap, Le Morne ~ Discover the savage and untouched Southern parts of Mauritius along its rugged coast and the popular surfing site at Le Morne.
• Walk with the Lions at Casela Park ~ A unique new adventure in Mauritius launched in April 2007. The “Lion Encounter” offers you a chance of a lifetime to experience and study the natural behaviour of the lions and to be part of their “Pride” in a very natural environment.. |
